A Mexico implant estimate can look less expensive until you add the final restoration, a second visit and follow-up at home. Compare the same treatment scope before comparing the totals. A lower price alone does not establish equivalent care.
Compare your total trip cost or ask us to organize your quote questions. You can start with an existing US estimate or a Mexico quote.
Compare the completed plan, not a starting implant price
Ask each clinic to mark every line as included, additional, not applicable or not yet determined. Your dentist must decide whether the proposed treatments are clinically comparable.
| Cost or scope item | US estimate | Mexico estimate | Question to resolve |
|---|---|---|---|
| Teeth treated and proposed work | Write the scope | Write the scope | Are both estimates addressing the same problem? |
| Implant components | Ask for manufacturer and system | Ask for manufacturer and system | Does the price include the implant, abutment and restoration? |
| Temporary restoration | Included / extra / not planned | Included / extra / not planned | What will you leave with after the first visit? |
| Final restoration | Material, cost and timing | Material, cost and timing | Is this part of the total or a later invoice? |
| Examinations and imaging | Itemize | Itemize | What may change after the examination? |
| Additional procedures | Itemize or mark unknown | Itemize or mark unknown | Who approves a revised plan and cost? |
| Anesthesia and laboratory fees | Itemize | Itemize | Are different options priced separately? |
| Follow-up and revisions | Written terms | Written terms | Which visits and costs are covered? |
The FDA explains the implant system’s components and recommends retaining its brand and model. A shared brand name does not establish that two clinics offer the same treatment or outcomes.
Add the cost of every planned trip
Use this budgeting structure:
Mexico total = treatment across all stages + travel for every planned trip + follow-up costs + an allowance you choose.
The calculator does that arithmetic using your figures. Check financing interest, time away from work, a travel companion and insurance reimbursement separately. Do not enter zero for a fee the clinic has not resolved.
For illustration only: a $15,000 US estimate compared with $8,000 treatment, two $1,000 trips, $500 follow-up and a $1,000 allowance gives an $11,500 Mexico total. The $3,500 difference is arithmetic, not a current clinic price or a guaranteed saving. A different scope, extra visit or uncovered expense changes it.
Ask what happens if the plan changes
Request the deposit and cancellation terms, how additional work is approved and the cost of work already completed if treatment stops. Ask whether payments follow individual treatment stages.
Obtain the warranty before booking. Identify who evaluates a claim, what is excluded, whether returning to the treating clinic is required and who pays travel costs. The CDC recommends discussing follow-up and complication arrangements before medical travel.
Get the unanswered questions into writing
Keep the estimate, its date, currency and written clarifications together. Ask the clinician to confirm the proposed scope and schedule. We are gathering documented clinic price schedules; this article does not publish a verified MxSmiles price list.
Request a quote comparison. Start with your contact details, then we can discuss the financial and documentation questions. Your dentist diagnoses and recommends treatment. MxSmiles is free for patients and may receive a referral fee if you choose a partner clinic.
